Exercise Satisfaction July 7, 2006 Firms that are thinking about installing workout rooms in their offices or subsidizing health club memberships may be interested in the results of three year study of 75,000 working adults that were released this week. They asked the survey respondents how much they agreed with the statement, “I am happy and satisfied in my job.” Then they compared the attitudes and practices of the top and bottom 10 percent. Respondents in the top 10 percent of satisfaction had an exercise and fitness score that was 170 percent greater than those in the bottom 10 percent. Interestingly, exercise has the second highest correlation to job satisfaction. The highest correlation was “practices related to beliefs about the meaning of life” for which the 10 percent most satisfied employees were 250 percent higher than the 10 least satisfied. |
