Chief Financial Officer - Newark, NJ

Legal Resource Group has been asked to assist a large Northeastern law firm to in their search for a fully qualified Chief Financial Officer. The position has full responsibility for all financial functions for a 400 lawyer, seven office firm. This is an exempt salaried position reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the Managing Partner and other firm leaders. The position is based in the Firm’s Newark, New Jersey headquarters office and supervises a staff of 35 people through six direct reports – the Managers of Billing, A/R & Collections, New Business Intake/Conflicts, Financial Applications & Systems, and a Financial Analyst. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for directing the firm-wide financial operations including accounting, billing, collection, treasury, financial reporting and analysis, and budgeting. The CFO serves as the primary business and financial advisor to the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, Managing Partner, other Firm Department Heads and Office Managing Partners.

The successful candidate for the CFO position will have appropriate qualifications for a senior financial management position. A university degree in accounting or finance. with a CPA certificate (preferred but not required). At least ten years of relevant financial management (accounting, treasury, tax and risk management) experience including three years of general/administrative management in a multi-site legal or professional services organization.
