Legal Resource Group has been retained by a mid-sized, highly respected Texas law firm to seek an experienced firm-wide legal administrator. This is a highly responsible position with authority over all administrative management of the firm. The Executive Director reports to the firm’s Chief Executive Officer ( Managing Partner) and is located in the firm’s Dallas office.
The Executive Director is the firm's chief operations and financial officer. The primary objectives of the position include:
Ensure that the firm's policies and procedures, as articulated by the shareholders, Section Heads and Management Committee, and as directed through the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), are implemented and followed by all attorneys and staff and, where appropriate, suggest and implement changes or additions to such policies and procedures.
Attend all shareholder, Section Head and Management Committee meetings; attend associate meetings, department head and other committee meetings as appropriate; and prepare the minutes of shareholder and Management Committee meetings.
Ensure that the members of the firm's management are furnished with timely and accurate information and resources necessary to support all strategic and operating functions, taking full part in the discussion, decision-making and execution of strategic and operational initiatives.
Ensure that every lawyer has an appropriate level of staff, information technology and other support to develop and enhance the efficient and effective practices of the firm.
Supervise and manage his or her direct reports (including outsourced functions, if any) and oversee the applicable administrative areas (marketing and public relations, accounting and benefits, IT, HR and recruiting, facilities, office services, library, branch offices).
Direct the operations of all the firm's offices, ensuring that policies and procedures, facilities, personnel and other support systems are consistent in all offices.
The Executive Director has oversight and responsibility for coordination of, and communication among, the department directors particularly in budget preparation, revenue management, expense controls, facilities management (including office space and personnel), selecting, updating and maintaining technology systems, and planning for the growth of the firm, at the direction of the firm's CEO.
The successful candidate must operate comfortably across a broad spectrum of responsibilities including hands-on financial and administrative work to issues involving information technology, personnel management, and business judgment
The successful candidate must have proven experience and successful performance in managing administrative functions in a large law or other professional services firm operating in a multiple office environment.It is desired that this experience include accounting and financial reporting, strategic planning, supervision and leadership, presentation skills, management through information, business development/marketing, and professional development. Extensive experience in recruiting, mentoring, managing and developing staff is preferred. It is expected that candidates possess a Bachelor's degree and a Master's degree in an appropriate field is preferred.
