Chief Financial Officer - Detroit, MI

Legal Resource Group has been retained by an AmLaw 200 Midwestern firm with a national practice to assist the firm in its search for a Chief Financial Officer.  This position requires a financial management professional to take responsibility for all of the firm’s financial, accounting, billing and cash management functions.  The position reports directly to the firm’s Chief Operating Officer and routinely works closely with the firm’s Chairman. The position is located in Detroit.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for directing all of the firm’s financial operations.  Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer, the position is responsible for developing and recommending financial strategies and analyses in support of the firm’s overall strategic initiatives and operational objectives.  The CFO works closely with department, practice group and industry team leaders to develop and implement operational and financial programs designed to enhance profitability at all operating segments of the firm. 

Accounting for firm financial activities using generally accepted accounting principles and ethical compliance to standards for handling client funds, trust accounts and other assets under the firm’s supervision.  Supervision of asset management and the calculation and distribution of profits in compliance with the firm’s partnership agreement and compensation system.

It is expected that the successful candidate will have appropriate qualifications for a senior financial management position.  These are considered to include a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or a similar discipline, a CPA certificate and/or a Master of Business Administration or Accountancy degree.  In addition, it is anticipated that appropriate experience will include at least ten years in the financial management of a large professional services firm involved in issues of strategic planning, negotiations, budgeting, sophisticated tax accounting and financial analysis.  Significant experience with a large law firm is strongly preferred.
