Chief Marketing Officer - Cleveland, OH

Legal Resource Group has been retained by a 145 lawyer national law firm with its principal office in Cleveland, Ohio to assist in its search for a legal marketing professional to assume firm-wide marketing, communications and business development responsibilities. The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is responsible for directing all of the Firm’s marketing, business development, client relations, and promotional activities. This is an exempt management position, operating at the Partner level and reporting jointly to the Firm's Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer. The position is resident in the Firm’s Cleveland office.    
The Chief Marketing Officer is responsible for conceptualizing and implementing market strategy and achieving marketing targets. Specific responsibilities including, planning, research, promotion and image development/maintenance, policy, budgeting & infrastructure, Business development and client relations.
It is expected that the successful candidate will have significant experience in the management of a marketing and business development operation for a professional service firm. It is anticipated that candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, communications or a similar area, past experience in marketing, public relations, advertising or communications. It is anticipated that candidates will have at least five years of professional services marketing experience including several years experience at the managerial level of a sophisticated marketing department. Law firm experience will be considered a significant advantage.
It is necessary that the successful candidate be a strong leader and have exhibited team-building and problem-solving skills in a professional services environment. It is expected that the person will have a professional appearance and demeanor, proven interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills and excellent communication skills.

The position requires a thorough knowledge of business planning and targeting programs for both individual partners and practice areas
